• Usually affects shoulder joint 
  • Mainly vata and kapha doshas are involved .

Causes =>  2 types

1.External causes :     

  1. Injury to the vital parts/marma surrounding the shoulder joint
  2. Exposure to excessive cold, wind, system usage
  3. Sleeping with wrong posture.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

2.Internal causes :       

  1. Secondary to degenerative  disorders, cervical spondylosis etc..
  2. Vata aggravating diet and activities.         
  3. Over use of joints (In drivers, Weight lifters etc…)                                                                                                                                                 

The bones, ligaments and tendons of the shoulder joint are covered in a capsule of connection tissue containing the shoulder joint within it.

Occurs when this capsule thickness and tightness around the shoulder joint, restricting the movement .

Stages of frozen shoulder – 3stages

  • Typically develops slowly and each stage can last for 3 months
  1. Freezing stage : Shoulder movements cause pain. the ability to move shoulder reduces .
  2. frozen stage : Pain may decrease but stiffness increases.
  3. Thawing stage : The range of motion in your shoulder begins to deteriorate.

Line of treatment 

  1. Swana : Oleation to the shoulder gridle from back of the neck to the tip of the corresponding arm.
  2. Swedana : After swana, mild sweda gines relief by stimulating nerve endings and improves blood circulation too.
  3. Nasya : Does significant effect by stimulating the nerve endings.
  4. Basti : To balance the vata dosha.
  5. Marma Therapy : Stimulation of below marmas in a chronological orders.
